Anthony Malloway

Councillor Tony Malloway

Anthony (Tony) Peter Malloway is the name given to me by my parents, Georgina Sara Malloway, from Sumas First Nation and Ivan Malloway from Tzeachten First Nation. My Xwelmexw name is Yexweylem.

I married Danielle Prest from Skwah First Nation, Danielle’s mother is originally from Shalath and her father is from Skwah First Nation. I have 4 children, one recently deceased.

I held numerous labor jobs in my younger years. At the end of the 80’s I began working in the field of fisheries, by the early 90’s I had the opportunity go further with my career by completing the River Guardian training program at the Justice Institute of BC. This program gave me the skills and knowledge needed to work in the many positions I have held over my career:

  • Fishery Officer – Sergeant
  • Sto:lo Enumeration program – Supervisor
  • Sto:lo Nation – Fishery Manager
  • Fraser Valley Aboriginal Fisheries Society – Manager

I proudly served as a Councillor of Tzeachten First Nation from 2000-2014. I took 6 years off in order to focus on my family and have been newly elected to serve once again for the next 4 years.  I am ready and eager to serve the Tzeachten membership once again.

As Councillor, I would like to see a greater representation of Tzeachten members working in senior positions at Tzeachten First Nation. I would also like to see Tzeachten continue to move forward in becoming fully self-sufficient and facilitating all services within the community.
